The ORFK (National Police Headquarters) is Hungary's central police organization responsible for law enforcement, public safety, and criminal investigation management. Its tasks include maintaining public order, crime prevention, and the investigation and prosecution of criminal offenses. ORFK works closely with other state agencies and international partners to ensure national security and uphold the rule of law.

Project General Description

For the ORFK, the deployment of Exadata X9 servers was a key step. This project was not merely a simple hardware upgrade but a comprehensive strategic development that aligned ORFK's IT infrastructure with the demands of the 21st century. The new system enabled the consolidation of previously dispersed databases, significantly improving data management efficiency and security.

Challenge

The main objective of the project was the consolidation of previously scattered databases. The solution for this was the implementation of Exadata X9 servers.

During the server implementation, the client prioritized the efficient allocation and utilization of physical resources, as well as the logical separation of different environments (production, testing, development). For this reason, KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) virtualization was used.

The implementation of the Exadata X9 servers presented several challenges due to the client's requirements. One of the biggest tasks was the proper planning and integration of functions organized into different network segments. This complexity demanded thorough planning and close collaboration between various departments of the ORFK.
